How about, is there anyone who likes "most" of it or "a lot" of it? Agreed, there is just such a quantity and variety of material, it would be unlikely someone would appreciate literally all of it. But surely there are more than a few folks who while they have preferences and a few out-and-out dislikes (there is just no excuse for Looks Like Rain), really do like the greater part of the Dead's overall oeuvre.
No?

Personally I probably like about 85-90% of it. I only really dislike the very last few years, where there were just too many all-out disasters mixed with too few really good shows. Otherwise, though of course I have my preferences, basically you can put on some Grateful Dead and I'm probably going to enjoy it.

That pretty much sums up how I feel about it. I'm pretty happy with everything up through the early 80's. There's a soggy mid-80s part that I don't listen to much from about 86-88. And I almost never listen to 94-95 shows. That said, I like to be surprised, so I don't really rule anything out.

Just because I am critical of the 'bad" years or "songs" I will say I stayed with it till the end. I saw my last show in 95' at Vegas and wouldn't have missed them, especially since it was a weekend of birthdays for myself and my friends.

I always enjoyed the energy of the "heads" and still do for the most part at Furthur and P&F shows.

It's kinda funny though, I have my dl's separated by year for easy access and I have something from every year, EXCEPT 93'.
I didn't see any shows that year, the first since 77' and as I've looked at the set list don't think I missed anything to special, though I am willing to listen to STRONG recommendations.

I still say, I will always passover,"Picasos" "cheezy answers" and most "Victims" but it doesn't mean I'm a Bobby hater just those tunes. I was kind of disgruntled with him over the Archive decision but I've gotten over that too and really appreciated his work the last 4 or so years. I did walk out on the Sunday show during "Two Djin" or what ever the song was after a decent 1st set "Throwin Stones" but I was back and really ready for the strong Bobby show in the second set at Red Rocks two weeks ago.

As for Jerry, I blame him for the wasted years and mediocre set list in the 80's and 90's but as was stated somewhere I would rather hear a bad Jerry show than most of the music out there today with a few exceptions.

Wow, I didn't think I would write this much but I'm still here most days to share with you good folks, even TOTO Too, and his personal attacks and I feel my life would have been a much harder place without the last 33 years Ive spent listening and learning from this music. Tomorrow is the 33rd anniversary of my first show. And I can only remember one of the 100 plus I would rather have NOT attended and even that was kind of a set up for the next day which was a top 5 pick.

So THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!!!

I understand people not liking '93. What I completely do not understand is why you'd omit '93 but listen to 94-95! 93 is certainly better than '92 and light years better than 94-95. I mean it's not even close.

Like I said-it was the one year I never saw any shows. Believe me there isn't much in 90-95'. If I get a strong endorsement from a roomie, I listen and grab it if its worth a future listen.
